A surprise Sunday child. Ben's arrival was a shock to all, at 24 weeks he should have been warm and safe in my tummy. Born at 4.07pm, weighing 1lb 10 and a half oz, and the most amazing thing I have ever laid eyes on, he was rushed off to SCBU before I even had a chance to believe he was real. When I was eventually taken and introduced to 'baby Colling' the first thought I had was that he looked like a Benjamin. He was tiny, and he was beautiful. Our first night was spent gazing at the little man in the incubator, trying to understand the maze of tubes and wires and trying to convince ourselves that he was real.
